Mike Sojourner is an American civil rights activist and former executive director of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). He was born on October 16, 1953 in Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Germantown High School and later graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in political science. Sojourner began his career as a civil rights activist in the late 1970s, working with the NAACP and other civil rights organizations. He was appointed executive director of the NAACP in 1994 and served in that role until 1998. During his tenure, he worked to increase the organization's membership and expand its influence. In 1998, Sojourner left the NAACP to become the executive director of the National Urban League. He served in that role until 2002, when he was appointed to the position of senior vice president of the National Action Network. He held that position until 2006. Sojourner is currently the president and CEO of the Sojourner Group, a consulting firm that provides strategic advice to nonprofit organizations. He is also a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress. As of 2021, Mike Sojourner's net worth is estimated to be roughly $2 million.
