Mike McWherter is an American politician who served as the 48th Governor of Tennessee from 2009 to 2011. He was born on October 28, 1955 in Jackson, Tennessee. McWherter graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1977 with a degree in business administration. He then went on to earn a law degree from the University of Memphis in 1980. McWherter began his political career in the Tennessee House of Representatives, where he served from 1983 to 1987. He then served as the mayor of Jackson from 1987 to 1998. McWherter was elected Governor of Tennessee in 2009, defeating Republican candidate Ron Ramsey. He served one term, from 2009 to 2011. McWherter is married to his wife, Kim, and they have two children. As of 2021, Mike McWherter's net worth is estimated to be around $2 million.
