Mike Anchondo is a professional boxer who has competed in the lightweight and super featherweight divisions. He is best known for his upset victory over then-undefeated WBO super featherweight champion Acelino Freitas in 2004. Anchondo was born in Los Angeles, California, and began boxing at the age of 15. He had an amateur record of 40-4, and won the California Golden Gloves in 2000. In 2004, Anchondo won the WBO super featherweight title with a 12-round unanimous decision over Acelino Freitas. He defended the title twice before losing it to Joan Guzman in 2005. Anchondo has since fought in the lightweight division, and has a professional record of 33-4-1, with 21 knockouts. He has fought notable opponents such as Juan Manuel Marquez, Jorge Barrios, and Rocky Juarez. Anchondo is married and has two children. He currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Anchondo signed turned pro in 2000 at the age of 18 and won his first 24 fights most of which were fought in southern california. His 25th fight was for the vacant WBO super featherweight title in 2004 in which he faced Pablo Chacón in Miami. He comfortably outpointed Chacón over 12 rounds and knocked Chacon down in the final round with two minutes remaining. It was a short reign, as he was stripped of the title for being nearly being 5 lbs. overweight during the weigh-in, his opponent Jorge Rodrigo Barrios ended up winning via 4th round stoppage in a bout that was televised by ESPN Friday Night Fights. In 2007, he was upset by former amateur standout Darling Jimenez, dashing any imminent title hopes. He retired from fighting in 2010 at the relatively young age of 28.
