Michael Rhodes is an American musician and songwriter. He is best known for his work with the band The Doobie Brothers, for which he was a founding member. He has also released several solo albums. Rhodes was born in Monroe, Louisiana, and grew up in Long Beach, California. He began playing guitar at the age of 12, and by the time he was 15, he was playing in local bands. He attended Long Beach City College, where he studied music theory and composition. In 1971, Rhodes joined the Doobie Brothers, and he remained with the band until 1982. During his time with the band, he wrote or co-wrote several of their hit songs, including "Black Water," "China Grove," and "Takin' It to the Streets." He also sang lead vocals on several of their songs, including "South City Midnight Lady" and "What a Fool Believes." In 1982, Rhodes left the Doobie Brothers to pursue a solo career. He released his first solo album, Tell the Truth, in 1983. He has since released several more solo albums, including Southern Pacific (1984), Street Talk (1986), and Michael Rhodes (1989). Rhodes has also worked as a session musician, playing on albums by artists such as Bob Seger, Bonnie Raitt, and Kenny Loggins. He has also toured with artists such as Eric Clapton, Elton John, and the Eagles. As of 2021, Michael Rhodes's net worth is estimated to be roughly $10 million.
