May Allison was an American silent film actress who was active in the early 20th century. She was born on June 14, 1890 in Rising Fawn, Georgia. She began her career in the theater, and made her film debut in 1912. She quickly became one of the most popular actresses of the silent era, appearing in over 100 films. May Allison was known for her beauty and charm, and was often cast in romantic roles. She was one of the first actresses to be signed to a long-term contract with a major studio, Vitagraph. She starred in many of the studio's most successful films, including The Great Adventure (1914), The Great Love (1915), and The Great Secret (1916). May Allison retired from acting in 1921, and died in 1989 at the age of 99. She was married to actor and director Marshall Neilan from 1915 to 1921.
