He was best known for his roles in the films The Wild North (1952), The Far Country (1955), and The Unforgiven (1960). Ward was also a successful producer, producing films such as The Unforgiven (1960), The Flight of the Phoenix (1965), and The Appaloosa (1966). He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture for The Flight of the Phoenix. Max Ward passed away on April 28, 2020, at the age of 98. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and four grandchildren. His net worth at the time of his death was estimated to be around $10 million.
