Matt Carter is an American stock car racing driver. He was born on May 13, 1981 in American. He currently competes full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro for JR Motorsports. Carter began his racing career in the late 1990s, competing in the Late Model Stock Car division at South Boston Speedway. He won the track championship in 2000 and 2001. In 2002, he moved up to the NASCAR Busch Series, now the Xfinity Series, driving the No. 27 Ford for Brewco Motorsports. He ran a limited schedule, but managed to finish in the top-10 in three races. In 2003, Carter moved to the No. 27 Chevrolet for FitzBradshaw Racing. He ran a full schedule and finished in the top-10 in seven races, with a best finish of fourth at Nashville Superspeedway. He finished the season 13th in points. In 2004, Carter moved to the No. 25 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports. He ran a full schedule and finished in the top-10 in nine races, with a best finish of third at Nashville Superspeedway. He finished the season 11th in points. Carter continued to drive for Hendrick Motorsports in 2005, but the team struggled and he finished the season 22nd in points. He left the team after the season and joined JR Motorsports for the 2006 season. Carter has been with JR Motorsports ever since, driving the No. 8 Chevrolet. He has won two races in the Xfinity Series, both at Daytona International Speedway in 2008 and 2009. He has also finished in the top-10 in points four times, with a best finish of fourth in 2009.
