Marty Brennaman is an American sportscaster and actor. He is best known for his long-running tenure as the radio voice of the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball. He has been the lead announcer for the Reds since 1974, and is currently in his 46th season with the team. Brennaman was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, and grew up in Norfolk, Virginia. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a degree in radio, television, and motion pictures. Brennaman began his broadcasting career in 1968, calling play-by-play for the minor league Charlotte Hornets. He joined the Reds in 1974, and has been the team's lead announcer ever since. He has also called games for the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals, the NBA's Cincinnati Royals, and the NHL's Cincinnati Stingers. Brennaman has won numerous awards for his work, including the Ford C. Frick Award from the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000. He was also inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame in 2000.
