Martine Desjardins is a Canadian activist and advocate for social justice. She is the founder and executive director of the Quebec-based organization, the Centre for Gender Advocacy. She is also a board member of the Canadian Federation of Students and a member of the Canadian Labour Congress. Desjardins was born in Montreal, Quebec, and grew up in the city's east end. She attended the Université du Québec à Montréal, where she studied political science and women's studies. She was active in student politics and was elected president of the university's student union in 2004. Desjardins has been involved in a number of social justice campaigns, including the fight for a $15 minimum wage in Quebec, the fight against austerity measures, and the fight for gender equality. She has also been involved in the fight for Indigenous rights and the fight against racism. Desjardins is a vocal advocate for the rights of women, LGBTQ people, and other marginalized groups. She has been featured in a number of media outlets, including the CBC, The Globe and Mail, and The Guardian.
