He studied zoology at the University of Bristol and then went on to work as a wildlife film-maker for the BBC Natural History Unit. He has been a presenter on Springwatch, Autumnwatch, and Winterwatch since 2005. He has also presented the BBC series Countryfile and Coast. Hughes-Games is married to his wife, Sarah, and they have two children. He is an avid birdwatcher and enjoys walking in the countryside.
