Marsha Sharp is an American former college basketball coach and athletic director. She is best known for her time as the head coach of the Texas Tech Lady Raiders basketball team from 1982 to 2006. During her tenure, she led the Lady Raiders to the NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championship in 1993 and was named the Naismith College Coach of the Year in 1993. Sharp was born on August 31, 1952 in Whidbey Island, Washington. She attended Central Washington University, where she played basketball and earned a degree in physical education. She then went on to earn a master's degree in physical education from the University of Oregon. Sharp began her coaching career at the high school level, coaching at both the boys' and girls' teams at Centralia High School in Washington. She then moved on to the college level, coaching at the University of Idaho and the University of Utah before taking the head coaching job at Texas Tech in 1982. At Texas Tech, Sharp led the Lady Raiders to the NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championship in 1993 and was named the Naismith College Coach of the Year in 1993. She was also named the Big 12 Coach of the Year four times and was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002. Sharp retired from coaching in 2006 and was named the athletic director at Texas Tech in 2011. She held the position until her retirement in 2018.
