Mark Funderburk is an American singer, songwriter, and producer. He is best known for his work with the band The Mavericks, which he co-founded in 1989. He has also released several solo albums, including his most recent, "The Long Road Home" (2015). Funderburk was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, and grew up in the small town of Waxhaw. He began playing guitar at the age of 12, and by the time he was in high school, he was playing in local bands. After graduating from high school, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a career in music. In 1989, Funderburk co-founded The Mavericks with Raul Malo, Paul Deakin, and Robert Reynolds. The band released their debut album, "From Hell to Paradise," in 1992, and went on to become one of the most successful country-rock bands of the 1990s. Funderburk wrote or co-wrote several of the band's hits, including "All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down," "Here Comes the Rain," and "Dance the Night Away." In addition to his work with The Mavericks, Funderburk has released several solo albums, including "The Long Road Home" (2015). He has also produced albums for other artists, including the Grammy-nominated "The Great Divide" (2005) by The Mavericks. Funderburk is currently married to his wife, Lisa, and they have two children. He lives in Nashville, Tennessee.
