Lucius Battle was an American actor who was born on June 1, 1918 in Dawson, Georgia. He was best known for his roles in the films "The Great Gatsby" (1974) and "The Wiz" (1978). Battle attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he studied drama and music. After graduating, he moved to New York City and began his career as an actor. He appeared in numerous Broadway productions, including "A Raisin in the Sun" (1959) and "The Great White Hope" (1968). Battle also appeared in several films, including "The Great Gatsby" (1974), "The Wiz" (1978), and "The Cotton Club" (1984). He also had a recurring role on the television series "The Cosby Show" (1984-1992). Battle passed away on April 15, 2020 at the age of 101. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters. At the time of his death, Battle had an estimated net worth of $2 million.
