Lester Brown is an American environmentalist, author, and founder of the Worldwatch Institute and the Earth Policy Institute. He is the author of more than 50 books on environmental issues, including Plan B 4.0: Mobilizing to Save Civilization, which was published in 2009. Brown was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and grew up in a rural area of the state. He attended the University of Maryland, College Park, where he earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural science in 1955. He then went on to earn a master's degree in agricultural economics from the University of Maryland in 1957. Brown has been a leader in the environmental movement for more than four decades. He has been awarded numerous honors, including the United Nations Environment Program's Global 500 Award, the MacArthur Foundation Fellowship, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He has also been named one of the world's 100 most influential people by Time magazine. Brown is currently the president of the Earth Policy Institute, a nonprofit research organization that he founded in 2001. He is also a senior fellow at the Worldwatch Institute, a research organization that he founded in 1974.

Brown remained in Winnipeg for two seasons (1986–1987), but only played in nine games. He finished his career with 4,586 rushing yards, 275 receptions for 2,861 yards and 48 total touchdowns.

In 1985, he was signed as a free agent by the Ottawa Rough Riders. Between the two team's, he recorded 537 rushing yards and 31 receptions in only 11 games, to earn his second straight Eastern All-Star selection.
