Laverne Andrews was an American actress and singer who was best known as one of the Andrews Sisters, a popular singing trio in the 1940s. She was born on July 6, 1911 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was the youngest of the three sisters, and the only one to have a solo career. Laverne began her career in vaudeville, performing with her sisters in the 1930s. The trio had their first hit in 1938 with "Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen". They went on to have a string of hits, including "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" and "Rum and Coca-Cola". In the 1950s, Laverne began to focus on her solo career. She released several solo albums, and appeared in a few films, including The Five Pennies (1959). She also appeared on television, including The Ed Sullivan Show and The Hollywood Palace. Laverne Andrews died on May 8, 1967 in Los Angeles, California. She was 55 years old.
