Lansana Coly is a Senegalese judoka who was born on 15 February, 1958 in Senegal. He is a two-time African champion in judo and a two-time Olympian. He competed in the men's half-lightweight event at the 1984 Summer Olympics and the men's lightweight event at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Coly began his judo career in 1975 and won his first African title in 1979. He went on to win the African title again in 1983 and 1985. He also competed in the World Championships in 1983 and 1985, and the African Championships in 1981, 1983, 1985, and 1987. Coly was a member of the Senegalese judo team at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, where he competed in the men's half-lightweight event. He lost his first match to eventual gold medalist Yasuhiro Yamashita of Japan. At the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, Coly competed in the men's lightweight event. He lost his first match to eventual bronze medalist Yoon Chang-sik of South Korea. Coly is currently the president of the Senegalese Judo Federation. He is also a member of the International Judo Federation's Executive Committee.
