He is the CEO of the Global Sport Institute at Arizona State University and the Adidas Distinguished Professor of Global Sport at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is also the author of several books, including The Business of Sports, The Business of Sports Agents, and In Black and White: Race and Sports in America. Shropshire was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 27, 1955. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1977 and a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1980. Shropshire has served as a professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice. He has also served as a consultant to the NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL. Shropshire is the author of several books, including The Business of Sports, The Business of Sports Agents, and In Black and White: Race and Sports in America.
