Kenneth Hlasa is a Lesotho-born politician who has served as the Prime Minister of Lesotho since June 2017. He is a member of the Basotho National Party (BNP). Hlasa was born on 2 March 1955 in Lesotho. He attended the National University of Lesotho, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Public Administration. He then went on to pursue a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of London. Hlasa began his political career in the early 1980s, when he was elected to the National Assembly of Lesotho. He served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1998 to 2002, and as the Minister of Home Affairs from 2002 to 2007. In 2007, he was appointed as the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning. In June 2017, Hlasa was appointed as the Prime Minister of Lesotho. He is the first Prime Minister to be appointed from the Basotho National Party. Hlasa is married and has three children.
