Keith Scott is a Canadian musician, songwriter, and producer. He is best known for his work with the rock band The Tragically Hip, for which he was the lead guitarist and backing vocalist. He has also released several solo albums. Scott was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on July 20, 1954. He began playing guitar at the age of 12 and was soon playing in local bands. In 1983, he joined The Tragically Hip, and the band released their debut album, Up to Here, in 1989. Scott has released several solo albums, including his debut, Hang On To Your Resistance, in 1994. He has also released two live albums, Live at the Horseshoe Tavern and Live at Massey Hall. Scott has been married to his wife, Laura, since 1982. They have two children, a son and a daughter. Bryan Adams has described Scott as "the most underrated guitarist ever". Scott was introduced to Adams in Ontario in the summer of 1976. As the 1970s were coming to an end, he started doing some recording work for the then-unknown Adams. This proved successful and within a year Scott was touring with Adams. They have been together on stage ever since.

1960

Scott was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, where his father played jazz piano and his mother sang occasionally. While still at school, he learned how to play the acoustic guitar and, by the time he was 17, he had acquired a used 1960s Fender Stratocaster, which was to become a regular instrument. Many of his musical influences, including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, were also associated with this instrument.
