Kathleen Dumais is an American politician who currently serves as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 15 in Montgomery County. She was first elected to the House of Delegates in 2002 and is currently the Majority Leader. Dumais was born in La Jolla, California, and graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a degree in political science. She then attended the University of Maryland School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor degree. Dumais has served on the House Judiciary Committee since 2003 and is the current chair of the Subcommittee on Criminal Law. She is also a member of the Montgomery County Delegation and the Women Legislators of Maryland. Dumais is married to her husband, John, and they have two children. She is a member of the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee and the Montgomery County Bar Association.

Born in La Jolla, California, Dumais grew up in Maryland and eventually pursued a degree at the University of Maryland School of Law. As an attorney, she specialized in family and juvenile law and had a career-long interest in education, at one point working as a teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools.
