Kathleen Ankers was a British production designer and art director who worked in the film industry for over 40 years. She was born in London, England, on October 22, 1919. She began her career in the late 1940s, working on films such as The Third Man (1949) and The African Queen (1951). She went on to work on a number of classic films, including Lawrence of Arabia (1962), The Great Escape (1963), and The Italian Job (1969). Ankers was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Art Direction for her work on the film The Lion in Winter (1968). She was also nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Art Direction for her work on the film The Man Who Would Be King (1975). Ankers retired from the film industry in the late 1980s. She passed away on April 8, 2020, at the age of 100.
