Karen Akers is an American actress and singer. She is best known for her performances in the Broadway musicals Nine and Grand Hotel. She has also appeared in films such as The Purple Rose of Cairo and The Cotton Club. Karen Akers was born on October 13, 1945 in New York City. She attended the High School of Performing Arts and the Juilliard School. She made her Broadway debut in the musical Nine in 1982. She went on to appear in the musical Grand Hotel in 1989, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award. Karen Akers has released several albums, including her debut album, Karen Akers, in 1985. She has also released several live albums, including Live at the Algonquin in 1992 and Live at the Cafe Carlyle in 1995. Karen Akers has been married twice. She was married to actor and director Robert Drivas from 1971 to 1975. She was then married to actor and director John Orth from 1979 to 1985. She has two children, a son and a daughter.
