Julio Palau Lozano was born in 1925 in Palau. He was a Spanish politician and lawyer who served as the President of the Government of the Balearic Islands from 1979 to 1983. He studied law at the University of Barcelona and was a professor of constitutional law at the University of the Balearic Islands. He was a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) and was elected to the Spanish Congress of Deputies in 1977. In 1979, he was appointed President of the Government of the Balearic Islands, a post he held until 1983. He was also a member of the Spanish Senate from 1983 to 1986. In addition to his political career, Palau Lozano was a prolific writer, publishing several books on constitutional law and politics. He was also a member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation. Palau Lozano passed away in 2020 at the age of 98.
