Jovino Santos Neto is a Brazilian jazz pianist, composer, arranger, and educator. He is best known for his work with the Brazilian jazz group Trio da Paz. He has released several solo albums and has collaborated with many of the top names in jazz, including Herbie Hancock, Paquito D'Rivera, and Joe Lovano. Santos Neto was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and began playing piano at the age of five. He studied classical music at the National School of Music in Rio de Janeiro and later studied jazz at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has been a member of the Brazilian jazz group Trio da Paz since its formation in 1988. Santos Neto has released several solo albums, including "Rio de Janeiro Underground" (1995), "The Journey" (1998), and "The Maestro" (2002). He has also collaborated with many of the top names in jazz, including Herbie Hancock, Paquito D'Rivera, and Joe Lovano. Santos Neto has been a professor at the University of Washington since 2000. He has also taught at the Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music. He is the founder and director of the Brazilian Music Institute in Seattle.
