Jonathan Banks is an American actor, writer, and producer. He is best known for his roles in the television series Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and Wiseguy. He has also appeared in films such as Airplane!, 48 Hrs., and Beverly Hills Cop. Banks was born on January 31, 1947 in Washington, D.C. He attended Indiana University Bloomington, where he studied theater. He began his acting career in the 1970s, appearing in television shows such as Kojak and The Rockford Files. In the 1980s, Banks appeared in films such as Airplane!, 48 Hrs., and Beverly Hills Cop. He also had a recurring role in the television series Wiseguy. In 2008, Banks began appearing in the AMC drama series Breaking Bad, playing the role of Mike Ehrmantraut. He continued to appear in the show until its conclusion in 2013. In 2015, Banks began appearing in the AMC prequel series Better Call Saul, reprising his role as Mike Ehrmantraut. He has since appeared in all five seasons of the show.
