Jonathan Axelrod is an American producer, writer, and executive. He is best known for his work on the television series The Wonder Years, which he co-created and executive produced. He has also written and produced for shows such as The Simpsons, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and The Cosby Show. Axelrod was born on July 9, 1949 in New York City. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a degree in film and television. Axelrod began his career in the entertainment industry in the late 1970s, writing for shows such as The Jeffersons and The Facts of Life. In 1988, he co-created The Wonder Years with Neal Marlens. The show was a critical and commercial success, and earned Axelrod an Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 1989. Axelrod has since written and produced for a variety of television shows, including The Simpsons, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and The Cosby Show. He has also served as an executive producer on shows such as The Hughleys and The Tracy Morgan Show. Axelrod is currently the executive producer of the Netflix series The Kominsky Method, which stars Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin. He is also the executive producer of the upcoming Netflix series The Politician, starring Ben Platt.
