Johnny Hart is an American cartoonist and writer best known for his comic strips B.C. and The Wizard of Id. He was born on February 18, 1931 in Endicott, New York. He attended Union-Endicott High School and graduated in 1949. Hart began his career as a cartoonist in 1958 when he created the comic strip B.C. for the New York Herald Tribune Syndicate. The strip was an instant success and was syndicated in over 1,000 newspapers worldwide. In 1964, Hart created The Wizard of Id, which was also syndicated in over 1,000 newspapers. Hart was the recipient of numerous awards, including the National Cartoonists Society's Reuben Award in 1971 and the National Cartoonists Society's Elzie Segar Award in 1981. He was also inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2006. Hart's net worth is estimated to be around $10 million.
