Johnnie Fingers is an Irish musician and songwriter best known as the keyboardist and co-founder of the rock band The Boomtown Rats. He was born in Dublin, Ireland, and grew up in the city's inner-city area. He began playing the piano at the age of five and was soon playing in local pubs and clubs. At the age of 18, he joined the Boomtown Rats, which went on to become one of the most successful bands of the late 1970s and early 1980s. He wrote or co-wrote many of the band's hits, including "I Don't Like Mondays", "Rat Trap", and "Banana Republic". Fingers left the Boomtown Rats in 1986 and went on to pursue a solo career. He released two solo albums, "Johnnie Fingers" (1987) and "The Long Goodbye" (1989). He also wrote and produced music for other artists, including Sinead O'Connor and The Corrs. In recent years, Fingers has returned to the Boomtown Rats, performing with them at various festivals and concerts. He is currently working on a new solo album.
