Jim Hofher is an American football coach and former player. He was born on October 12, 1957 in Syracuse, New York. He is currently the head coach of the University of Buffalo Bulls football team. Hofher played college football at Syracuse University, where he was a three-year starter at quarterback. He was a member of the 1979 Orange team that won the Lambert Trophy as the best team in the East. Hofher began his coaching career at Syracuse in 1982 as a graduate assistant. He then moved on to coach at the University of Virginia, the University of North Carolina, and Cornell University. He was the head coach at Cornell from 1997 to 2003, where he compiled a record of 33-41. Hofher was hired as the head coach of the University of Buffalo in December of 2018.
