Jerome Bixby was an American science fiction writer, editor, and producer. He wrote several short stories and novels, including the classic "It's a Good Life" (1953), which was adapted for the classic Twilight Zone episode of the same name. He also wrote the screenplay for the classic science fiction film Fantastic Voyage (1966). Bixby was born in Los Angeles County, California, and attended the University of California, Los Angeles. He began writing professionally in the 1940s, and his first published story was "It's a Good Life" in 1953. He went on to write numerous short stories and novels, including The Man from Earth (1957), The Star Beast (1964), and The Man Who Folded Himself (1973). Bixby also wrote for television, including episodes of The Twilight Zone, Star Trek, and The Outer Limits. He wrote the screenplay for the classic science fiction film Fantastic Voyage (1966). Bixby died in 1998 at the age of 75. He was posthumously inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 2001.
