Jere Gillis is an American former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1977 to 1989. He was born on January 18, 1957 in Bend, Oregon, United States. Gillis was drafted in the first round, sixth overall, by the Minnesota North Stars in the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft. He played in the NHL for 12 seasons, with the North Stars, Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues, and Hartford Whalers. He was a two-time NHL All-Star, in 1981 and 1982. Gillis retired from professional hockey in 1989, after playing in 602 NHL games. He scored a total of 181 goals and added 239 assists for 420 points. He also played in the World Hockey Association (WHA) for the Indianapolis Racers and the Edmonton Oilers. Gillis currently resides in Bend, Oregon, where he is involved in various business ventures. He is also a member of the Bend Hockey Hall of Fame.
