She made her television debut in the BBC drama series The Bill in 2000. In 2006, Platt joined the cast of Coronation Street as Violet Wilson, the mother of character David Platt. She left the show in 2011. In 2012, Platt joined the cast of the BBC drama series Waterloo Road as headteacher Karen Fisher. She left the show in 2014. In 2015, Platt joined the cast of the ITV drama series Emmerdale as Tracy Metcalfe. She left the show in 2018.
