Jeffrey Buben is an American chef and restaurateur. He is the founder and owner of the popular Washington, D.C. restaurants Vidalia, Bistro Bis, and Woodward Table. He is also the founder of the catering company, Occasions Caterers. Buben was born on October 8, 1958 in Washington, D.C. He attended the University of Maryland, College Park, where he earned a degree in hotel and restaurant management. Buben began his career in the restaurant industry in the early 1980s, working as a sous chef at the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C. He then moved on to become the executive chef at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C. In 1990, Buben opened his first restaurant, Vidalia, in Washington, D.C. The restaurant quickly became a popular destination for fine dining in the city. In 1995, he opened Bistro Bis, a French bistro, and in 1997, he opened Woodward Table, a more casual restaurant. Buben has been recognized for his culinary achievements, receiving numerous awards and accolades. In 2000, he was named one of the “Best New Chefs” by Food & Wine magazine.
