Schroeder attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he earned a degree in communications. After college, he worked as a radio DJ and television host. In 2008, Schroeder appeared on the CBS reality show Big Brother 10. He was the runner-up in the competition, losing to Dan Gheesling. He returned to the show in 2009 for Big Brother 11, where he was the fifth houseguest to be evicted. In 2010, Schroeder began hosting his own talk show, Jeff Schroeder's Daily Blast Live. The show aired on the Fox Reality Channel and featured celebrity guests, interviews, and games. In 2011, Schroeder appeared on the CBS reality show The Amazing Race. He and his partner Jordan Lloyd finished in second place. In 2012, Schroeder began hosting the web series Jeff Schroeder's After Dark. The show featured interviews with celebrities and reality stars. Schroeder is currently the host of the podcast Jeff Schroeder's Big Brother Podcast. He also hosts the web series Jeff Schroeder's Big Brother After Show. 2014

In 2014, following the exit of Parvati Shallow from the program, Schroeder took over as host of Survivor Live, a recap show similar to Big Brother Live Chat where Schroeder interviews the castaways the day following the episode in which they are voted off. His first season hosting the show is for Survivor: San Juan del Sur.

2010

In 2010, Jeff, along with Jordan, entered the Big Brother 12 house to host the fifth Power of Veto competition, "Lover's Lane". Later in 2010, Jeff became a part of the online CBS show Around the World For Free. In 2011, Jeff and Jordan returned to Big Brother, this time as HouseGuest for Big Brother 13. Their appearance was due to the "Dynamic Duos" twist, which saw three pairs from past seasons enter the House against eight new HouseGuests. Jeff was ultimately evicted during a Double Eviction on Day 55, earning seventh place.

2005

Schroeder appeared in one episode of The Surreal Life, S04:06 - "I'm with Cupid" in 2005. "Jeff" was 1 of 3 bachelor candidates vying for a date with Season 1 winner of America's Next Top Model Adrianne Curry. Interviewing the candidates, she asked, "Do you mind a lady who burps?"
