Jay Sonza is a Filipino broadcast journalist, television host, and politician. He is best known for his work as a news anchor for GMA Network and as a former host of the variety show Student Canteen. Sonza was born on 20 September 1955 in Macabebe, Pampanga, Philippines. He graduated from the University of the East with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications. Sonza began his career in broadcasting in 1975 as a news anchor for GMA Network. He was also the host of the variety show Student Canteen from 1975 to 1982. In 1992, Sonza ran for senator under the Lakas-NUCD-UMDP party and was elected to the Senate. He served as a senator until 1998. In 2000, Sonza returned to broadcasting and became a news anchor for GMA Network. He also hosted the variety show S-Files from 2000 to 2002. As of 2021, Jay Sonza's net worth is estimated to be roughly $2 million.
