Jaroslaw Abramow-Newerly is a Polish writer and composer. He is best known for his works in the genres of musical theatre, cabaret, and film. He has written and composed over 200 musicals, cabarets, and films. He has also written several books, including a biography of the Polish composer and conductor Witold Lutosławski. Abramow-Newerly was born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1933. He studied music at the Warsaw Conservatory and composition at the Academy of Music in Kraków. He began his career as a composer and arranger for the Polish Radio and Television in the 1950s. In the 1960s, Abramow-Newerly began writing and composing musicals and cabarets. His works include the musicals "The Little Prince" (1965), "The Magic Flute" (1966), and "The Three Musketeers" (1967). He also wrote the musicals "The King and I" (1968) and "The Sound of Music" (1969). In the 1970s, Abramow-Newerly wrote and composed several films, including "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" (1970), "The Great Escape" (1972), and "The Tower of London" (1973). He also wrote the musical "The Phantom of the Opera" (1974). Abramow-Newerly has received numerous awards for his work, including the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, and the Order of Merit of the City of Warsaw.
