He was a master craftsman at Steuben Glass for 43 years. He was the first designer to be honored by Steuben with a major exhibit in 1992. His best-known glass works are "Arctic Fisherman" and "Trout and Fly". He lived in the Canadian Arctic in the 1950s and 60s, and helped introduce Inuit art to a worldwide audience.
