Songwriter ("Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart", "Rose of Washington Square", "Second Hand Rose"), composer, author and pianist, educated at Champion College and the Chicago Musical College. During World War I, he served in the 82nd Division and wrote and produced the Army show "Toot Sweet".
