He is best known for his work as a sports columnist for The New York Times, for which he won a Pulitzer Prize in 2001. Ira Berkow has had a long and successful career in journalism, beginning in the 1960s when he worked as a reporter for the Chicago Daily News. He then moved to The New York Times in 1981, where he wrote a sports column for the next 25 years. During his time at The New York Times, he won a Pulitzer Prize in 2001 for his work on a series of stories about the life of a professional basketball player. Ira Berkow has also written several books, including biographies of basketball players Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson, as well as a memoir about his own life.
