Inge Auerbacher is an 87-year-old German-born American author, Holocaust survivor, and public speaker. She was born on December 31, 1934, in Kippenheim, Germany, to Jewish parents. Inge and her family were persecuted by the Nazis and were forced to flee to Switzerland in 1939. Inge and her family eventually settled in the United States in 1946. Inge has written several books about her experiences during the Holocaust, including her memoir, I Am a Star: Child of the Holocaust. She has also written several children's books, including The Star on the Mountain and The Christmas Tree Ship. Inge has been honored with numerous awards, including the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, the National Council of Jewish Women's Woman of Valor Award, and the National Jewish Book Award. She has also been inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame. Inge is currently married to her husband, Dr. Robert Auerbacher. They have two children, a son and a daughter.
