Indu Shahani is an Indian educator and the former Sheriff of Mumbai. She is the former Principal of the HR College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai, and the former Dean of the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. She is the founder of the Indus World School of Business, Mumbai. Shahani was born on 17 July 1954 in Mumbai, India. She completed her schooling from the St. Xavier's High School, Mumbai. She then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the HR College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Mumbai. Shahani has held various positions in the educational sector. She was the Principal of the HR College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai, from 1994 to 2000. She was the Dean of the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, from 2001 to 2006. She was also the founder of the Indus World School of Business, Mumbai. Shahani was appointed as the Sheriff of Mumbai in 2012. She was the first woman to hold the post. She was also the first woman to be appointed as the President of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Shahani has been awarded several honors and awards. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 2012. She was also awarded the Yash Bharti Award by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2013. She was also awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Bombay Management Association in 2014.
