Hutton Gibson

Participated in numerous Australian quiz shows such as Ford Superquiz with Bert Newton and Big Nine with Athol Guy. The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Gibson won an automobile and $100,000 in a TV quiz program during 1986.

Appeared on the Art Fleming-hosted version of the game show Jeopardy! in 1968, where he won $4,680 and retired undefeated after five shows. Gibson was invited back to appear in the 1968 Tournament of Champions and he became the year's grand champion, winning more than one thousand dollars and a two-person cruise to the West Indies.

Worked for the New York Central Railroad during the 1960s. On December 11th, 1964, Gibson injured his back after slipping off a steel platform covered in oil and snow. A work injury lawsuit went to court on February 7, 1968 and Gibson was awarded $145,000 seven days later. Gibson was forced to retire due to his injuries.

Hutton Gibson was born on August 26, 1918 in Peekskill, New York, USA as Hutton Peter Gibson. He was married to Teddy Joye (Moore) Hicks and Anne Patricia Reilly.

Son of John Hutton Gibson, a businessman, and wife Eva Mylott (Eva Teresa Mylott), an opera singer, who married in New York in 1917. His father was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, of Irish descent on one side and English, Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, Scottish, and Welsh roots on the other. His mother was born in 1875 in Tuross Head, New South Wales, Australia and died in 1920 in New Jersey. She was the daughter of Patrick Mylott, an importer of wine and spirits, and his wife Mary Heffernan (daughter of Edmund Heffernan and his wife Honora). Eva's parents were Irish.
