Hilmer Kenty is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1976 to 1988. He held the WBA lightweight title from 1980 to 1981. Kenty was born on July 20, 1955 in Austin, Texas. He began boxing at the age of 15 and had an amateur record of 40-2. He turned professional in 1976 and won his first 15 fights. In 1980, Kenty won the WBA lightweight title by defeating Ernesto Espana. He defended the title twice before losing it to Livingstone Bramble in 1981. Kenty continued to fight until 1988, when he retired with a record of 44-7-1. Kenty was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2004. He currently resides in Austin, Texas.
