He also wrote for other radio and television shows, including The Stanley Baxter Show, The Good Old Days, and The Two Ronnies. Nicol was also an actor, appearing in films such as The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and The Wicker Man. He also appeared in television shows such as Doctor Who and The Sweeney. Nicol was married to actress and singer, Jean Taylor Smith, from 1945 until his death in 2002. He had two children, a son and a daughter. Nicol's net worth is unknown.
