Harry Blackstone Jr. was an American magician and illusionist. He was born Harry Bouton Blackstone Jr. on June 30, 1934, in Three Rivers, Michigan. He was the son of the famous magician Harry Blackstone Sr. and his wife, the former Geneva Brayfield. Blackstone Jr. began performing magic at the age of six, and by the time he was a teenager, he was performing professionally. He was known for his grand illusions, such as the Floating Light Bulb, the Vanishing Lady, and the Zig-Zag Girl. He also performed close-up magic and was a master of sleight of hand. Blackstone Jr. was a popular performer on television, appearing on shows such as The Ed Sullivan Show, The Tonight Show, and The Merv Griffin Show. He also had his own television specials, including The Magic of Blackstone and Blackstone the Magic Detective. Blackstone Jr. was the author of several books on magic, including The Magic of Blackstone and Blackstone's Modern Card Tricks. He was also the recipient of several awards, including the Academy of Magical Arts' Magician of the Year Award in 1983 and the Society of American Magicians' Gold Medal of Honor in 1985. Blackstone Jr. died on May 14, 1997, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 62 years old.
