George Blay is a former Ghanaian football player who was born on 7 August, 1980 in Elmina, Ghana. He began his career as a youth player for the local club Elmina Sharks before joining the Ghanaian Premier League side Sekondi Hasaacas in 2000. He went on to play for several other clubs in the Ghanaian Premier League, including Liberty Professionals, King Faisal Babes, and Berekum Chelsea. Blay was part of the Ghanaian national team that won the African Cup of Nations in 2008. He also represented Ghana at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Blay retired from professional football in 2013 and is currently working as a football coach. He is married and has two children. In the 2011–2012 season he played for Royal Antwerp as a replacer for Bart Van Zundert.


In the 2006–2007 season he played in 31 from a total of 34 league games for Dinamo Bucureşti helping the team win the 18th championship in the club's history.


He was part of the Ghanaian 2002 African Nations Cup team, who exited in the quarter-finals after losing to Nigeria. He also featured at the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship.


Blay played a total of nine seasons in the Belgian First Division with Standard Liège (1997–2002), Y.R. K.V. Mechelen (2002–2003) and La Louviére (2003–2006) before making the switch to Romanian football in 2006.
