Gary Sutton is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. He played for the Balmain Tigers, Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles and the Eastern Suburbs Roosters in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition. Sutton was born on 27 March 1955 in Moree, New South Wales. He played his junior rugby league for the Moree Boomerangs before being signed by the Balmain Tigers in 1975. He made his first grade debut for Balmain in Round 1 of the 1975 season against the Eastern Suburbs Roosters. In 1978, Sutton joined the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles and went on to play in the 1978 Grand Final against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. He was a member of the Sea Eagles' premiership-winning team in the 1979 Grand Final against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. In 1981, Sutton joined the Eastern Suburbs Roosters and played in the 1981 Grand Final against the Parramatta Eels. He retired at the end of the 1982 season. Sutton is currently 69 years old. After retiring from competition, Sutton became a coach, spending 26 years as a national coach with Cycling Australia. In May 2017, it was announced that Cycling Australia would not renew the contract for his position as women's endurance coach beyond the end of June. In August of the same year, USA Cycling announced that Sutton had been appointed as their track endurance head coach.
