François de Roubaix was a French composer and film score composer. He is best known for his work in the French New Wave cinema of the 1960s and 1970s. He composed the scores for films such as The Little Soldier, The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie, and The Last Adventure. He also composed music for television series such as Les Enfants du Soleil and Les Brigades du Tigre. Roubaix was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Hauts-de-Seine, France. He studied music at the Conservatoire de Paris and the École Normale de Musique. He began his career as a composer for television and film in the early 1960s. He composed the scores for over 50 films and television series. Roubaix died in 1975 at the age of 36. He was posthumously awarded the César Award for Best Music in 1976 for his score for The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie. He was also posthumously inducted into the French Legion of Honor in 1977.
