Filippos Filippou is a Cypriot athlete who was born on 29 September, 1956 in Cyprus. He is best known for his success in the long jump, triple jump, and decathlon events. He has won numerous medals in international competitions, including a gold medal in the triple jump at the 1983 Mediterranean Games. Filippou is a two-time Olympian, having competed in the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics. He also competed in the World Championships in Athletics in 1983, 1987, and 1991. Filippou is a four-time Cypriot national champion in the long jump, triple jump, and decathlon. He also holds the Cypriot national record in the triple jump, with a jump of 17.20 meters. Filippou is currently the head coach of the Cypriot national athletics team. He is also a member of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Coaches Commission. Filippou is married and has two children. He currently resides in Nicosia, Cyprus.
