Ferenc Kiss is a Hungarian sprinter who was born on 10 February, 1955 in Mosonmagyaróvár, Hungary. He is best known for his success in the 400m sprint, having won the gold medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. He also won the silver medal in the 4x400m relay at the same Olympics. Kiss began his career as a sprinter in the early 1970s, competing in the 400m and 4x400m relay. He won his first major international medal in 1977, when he won the bronze medal in the 400m at the European Athletics Championships in Prague. He went on to win the gold medal in the 400m at the 1979 European Athletics Championships in Prague, and the gold medal in the 400m at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. Kiss retired from competitive athletics in 1983, and has since become a coach and mentor to young athletes. He is currently the head coach of the Hungarian national athletics team.
